The first month
Happy 4-week birthday, Cael!! I can't believe we've only had him for a month - it seems like he's always been a part of our family. Things around here have changed so much, our lives are completely different than they were a few weeks ago - and yet, it doesn't feel strange. It feels like we've always done things this way. Waking up every 4 hours and getting no sleep somehow feels completely natural. Weird how things work out that way. :)
Cael has been such a good baby, especially in those first 2 weeks. Since then he's become a little more fussy, but I think that's just part of being a newborn baby. He's still trying to get used to this new world, and we're trying to figure out a feeding/sleeping schedule that makes him happy. He's been having some problems with gassiness and spitting up, so that hasn't helped things either. But, he's generally a good baby and we love spending time with him. He pretty much eats, sleeps and messes his diaper. Not much else!
His umbilical cord stump FINALLY came off a few weeks ago, so we were able to give Cael his first bath in the real tub! I was so excited, it's hard to get him really clean with just a sponge bath. He didn't seem to like it very much, he kept kicking his legs and trying to get out. I think he was just unsure of what was going on though. He liked the warm water, and when we washed his hair he loved it. He just made some pretty funny faces the rest of the time.

One more day!

Still here!
The good news is, Dr. Erickson said that from this point on we can choose to be induced whenever we want. So, if nothing is happening by our next doctor's appointment we'll probably start talking about it. Anyway, maybe someday soon we'll have something more exciting to post! :)

Just around the corner...
So, I've graduated to the weekly doctor visits, and it seems like things are moving really fast with the baby. Last week I was dilated to 2cm and this week I'm at 4 and 75% effaced, so the doctor said he may not last out the week. We're so excited! I can't wait to meet our little boy and see what he looks like. It's all so surreal, it's hard to believe I'm gonna be a MOM in a few days. Totally weird.
We have a few names picked out for him, but we haven't nailed it down to just one yet. His middle name is definitely going to be Dean, after Cameron/Grandpa Davis. For his first name, we're going back and forth between Cael, Luke, and Bruce. Cael is the current favorite because it's a little more original and it's a family name - we found it in one of Cameron's geneaology books. We would LOVE any input about it. Names have been probably one of the hardest thing to do so far. I didn't think it would be this difficult, but it's a lot of pressure, giving someone a name they'll have the rest of their life!
So, another exciting thing that's happened is that we bought a house! We're living in Goodyear now, and we absolutely love it. Our ward has been so wonderful - everyone has made a special effort to reach out to us and make friends, and our relief society presidency is absolutely wonderful. I love it, and I know it's going to be a great place to raise our son. We're so excited. The house itself is coming along pretty well. Closing on it was something of a nightmare, and is part of the reason I didn't want to blog for a while. My entries would not have been very happy. But, we're on the tail end of it now and everything did work out, just like we knew it would. We had our doubts at times, but through it all we learned a lot about the power of faith, hope and prayer. It wasn't exactly a fun experience, but I'm so glad we went through it - it has definitely made us a stronger family, and prepared us for what's coming with the baby. Things will only get harder from here. :)
So, that's it in a nutshell. My pregnancy has been really great so far. It's starting to be pretty uncomfortable, but compared to a lot of other women I've had it really great. I've been so blessed to have a normal healthy pregnancy, and I'm just hoping the birth will go just as well. I love our little boy already, and we can't wait to meet him! I've stopped working now, so hopefully I'll have a little more time to devote to my blog and keep everyone updated with what's going on with our lives. Depending on baby's cooperation, our next post could be a birth announcement! :)

We are SO EXCITED! Cameron has known it was a boy from the beginning, but it took me by suprise. It's so exciting though, it definitely makes it feel more real knowing the gender already. It's not as abstract as it used to be, I think.
We weren't actually supposed to have our ultrasound for another month, but Dr. Erickson just snuck us in real fast to do a "sex check". So, we'll probably have more pictures next month -he said that's when they'll be checking all the fingers and toes and everything, basically just making sure everything's all there and working correctly. Until then, here are some pictures of our little boy!!
You can see his little face here - it looks a litle like a turtle because it doesn't show his nose, but other than that we think he's pretty handsome!
DEFINITELY a boy. Here's your proof if you don't believe us. :)It was amazing how much his little legs were moving during this shot, he almost never stops squirming!
